The final full week of April 2013 has come to a close, but before it goes away forever, you’ll want to check out all of this week’s important happenings in the automotive world. The week began with news from Germany as BMW is pondering the possibility of a 1 Series Sedan.Tuesday brought news that Cadillac is working on an ATS coupe, which our spy photographer caught laying down some laps in heavily wrapped guise. The following day, more news on Fisker’s rapid disintegration surfaced as word spread that the all-electric automaker continued to receive funding from the U.S. government, even after it continuously missed financial targets it promised to hit before taking the loan. The end of the week was a little more laid back, as Toyota held its spot as king of the automotive hill for the time being, and final pricing announced for the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. Check out our full run down of all of the aforementioned stories below in the latest installment of Week in Review.

BMW 1 Series Performance Parts 623x389 300x187 imageDepending on where you live, it’s getting harder to look around without seeing a BMW X1 bustling about, and the German automaker is well aware of that. Now, BMW is contemplating the possibility of launching a 1 Series sedan, which would make perfect sense especially after competitors Audi and Mercedes-Benz have showed off sedan versions of their smallest cars, the A3 and CLA, respectively. Speaking at last week’s Beijing Motor show, BMW said that there’s a possibility that a 1 Series sedan is in the works. We have a hunch it’s more than a possibility.

2014 Cadillac ATS Coupe Spy Photo Rear Quarter 623x3891 300x187 imageCadillac’s renaissance is fully underway, with new vehicles like the big XTS sedan and smaller, more nimble ATS sedan. With the latter gaining popularity so rapidly–and with the CTS moving up in size–we fully expected the ATS to spawn a coupe variant, and on Tuesday, those suspicions were confirmed. Our spy photographer caught a heavily disguised Cadillac ATS coupe out testing, and while specifications aren’t confirmed yet, we’re expecting to see the production-ready version to hit the stage next January at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

Henrik Fisker with Karma 1024x640 623x389 300x187 imageThe say “When it rains, it pours.” That statement has never rang truer for Fisker, the Anaheim, California-based electric automaker that is currently not building any cars. On Wednesday, we learned that the Department of Energy continued to spoon feed Fisker loan payments, even after the automaker missed targets it promised it would hit when applying for a loan. Part fact-finding, part political witch-hunt, it’s all but a forgone conclusion that Fisker is on its way down the tubes and Wednesday’s revelations all but solidify that notion.

2013 Toyota Camry 623x3891 300x187 imageToyota went to bed Wednesday night as the king of the automotive world and woke up Thursday morning in the same manner. As dust from the first quarter of sales settled, Toyota found itself at the top of the automotive heap in terms of size, beating out stout competition from General Motors and Volkswagen. Even still, Toyota says it’s not about the sales, but about producing a solid product. While that’s most likely true, it’s tough when you have GM and Volkswagen breathing hot air down your neck. In all, Toyota amassed 2.43 million vehicles sold through the first three months of 2013, followed by GM with 2.36 million units sold and Volkswagen came in third with 2.27 million units.

For starters, you can get a C7 Corvette for $51,995, while the convertible variant will set you back $56,995. For that price, you also get a 6.2-liter LT1 V-8 engine which produces 450 horsepower and much more handsome interior with carbon fiber splashed all around. The seventh-generation Corvette includes features like Chevy’s MyLink infotainment system, HID headlights, a nine-speaker Bose audio system, and a back-up camera.
