Compact Car: Chevrolet Cruze, 32,871 units

In a segment often dominated by the tried-and-true Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic, the Chevrolet Cruze surprises selling nearly 33k models. The Honda Civic had managed to grab the top seller for the compact segment last month with 30,268, and the Corolla was the leader the month before. Year to date, the Corolla has a marginal edge over the Civic, with the Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cruze, and Hyundai Elantra rounding out the top five spots. The Jetta/Jetta Sportwagen come in further down at sixth. An entry-level Chevrolet Cruze LS starts just above $17,000, while a top-level LTZ model can easily reach $25,000. But with its relatively attractive styling, decent fuel economy, and a variety of models to choose from, the Cruze is June’s top dog.
