Subcompact Car: Ford Fiesta, 9,363 units

Selling more than 9,000 units in May, the Ford Fiesta retakes the subcompact crown away from the hot Nissan Versa (yes, we said hot Nissan Versa, who knew?). The two have been battling it out for months, and are ahead of the Chevrolet Sonic and Hyundai Accent. The Fiesta is a European inspired firecracker, one that looks good and is reasonably fun to drive. While it’s a little more expensive than the Nissan Versa–which boasts an aggressive starting price of $11,990–the Fiesta adds personality and features. With many shipping off for college later this summer, we’ll be curious to see how sales are affected in the coming months.
