John Heinricy Drives Chevy Corvette 427, Talks About C7 on The Downshift
John Heinricy takes a spin in the last special-edition C6 model, the Corvette 427 convertible, on this episode of The Downshift. The former director of GM Performance, Heinricy worked for the automaker for nearly four decades with about one-third of his time spent on Corvette development including the C4 and C5 models.
The 505-hp 7.0-liter LS7 engine in the Corvette 427 is Heinricy’s favorite GM small-block engine, because it provides lots of power in a lightweight compact package. After driving the Corvette 427, he discusses the direction SRT took with the new Viper, and speculates on new engine technologies GM may have in store for the upcoming C7 Corvette.
After looking toward the future, Heinricy looks back at a 1996 Corvette Grand Sport model that is part of his personal collection. Check out the video below to hear what direction GM Performance’s former director believes the 2014 Corvette is headed and revisit our 2014 Corvette spy shots here.
